We are all different in the way we deal with things that happen in our lives. After being sexually assaulted, some people may feel very afraid for a long time afterwards. They may feel ashamed, anxious, and angry and blame themselves.
You might find it difficult to sleep or eat properly and you may experience moods swings. You might be irritable, short-tempered and find it difficult to make decisions. You may also be tearful at times and it is possible that you will not feel like being close to people, even those you know well and are extremely fond of.
It might help you to know that all of these feelings are usual for someone who has been through a traumatic experience. Other people in similar circumstances often feel exactly the same. You are not alone. It was not your fault you were assaulted.
