Shoplifting
Shops are often seen as an easy target for thieves. Shopkeepers can consider the following tips to help prevent shoplifting:
- Consider how your products are displayed – empty packets of high value goods are less attractive to shoplifters but still advertise your product.
- See your customers – fit low-level aisles so your staff can see customers at all times. Use mirrors to reduce blind spots.
- CCTV can be used to deter criminals and to record crime if it happens. It is an extremely useful and powerful tool for the police and has assisted in the prevention and detection of many crimes.
- Consider investing in a store security guard
- Join a retail radio scheme if one operates in your area – this means you can be alerted if known shoplifters are near your premises.
