Victims and Witnesses of Hate Crime
What to do if you have been a victim or witness of a hate crime:
There are different ways in which you can report a hate incident and there are some important things to remember
- In an emergency dial 999 and ask for the police. Alternatively call 0345 113 5000 and ask to be put through to your local police station
- Leave any evidence untouched, for example broken glass, weapons, cloths, leaflets etc
- Keep a written record or diary of the incidents including time of incidents, where they happened, a description of the offenders and what they did and said
- Try to give the police or other agencies as much detail as possible when reporting the incident
