Victims and Witnesses of Hate Crime

What to do if you have been a victim or witness of a hate crime:

There are different ways in which you can report a hate incident and there are some important things to remember

  1. In an emergency dial 999 and ask for the police. Alternatively call 0345 113 5000 and ask to be put through to your local police station
  2. Leave any evidence untouched, for example broken glass, weapons, cloths, leaflets etc
  3. Keep a written record or diary of the incidents including time of incidents, where they happened, a description of the offenders and what they did and said
  4. Try to give the police or other agencies as much detail as possible when reporting the incident
  5. If you wish to report the crime to a third party reporting centre then please do by seeing the list of reporting centres below
  6. If you do not wish to reveal your identity you can report crime anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
