Road Traffic Collision (RTC) Investigation Unit

The RTC Investigation Unit specialises in investigating low level collisions and allegations of poor driving standards.

This section gives advice about what to do if you are involved with this type of incident.

For other more serious collisions the police should be contacted to attend.

In these cases, the role of the police is to establish if there are any offences worthy of prosecution and to prosecute those offences which are in the public interest.

The police role is not to apportion blame. That is the responsibility of the insurance companies who handle civil matters regarding liability and compensation.
