Roads Policing

Letters of the Law continues as we go behind the scenes to see how the force tackles drink drivers.

A mother who lost her son as a result of a drunk driver has given her backing to this year's West Midlands Police Christmas drink and drug driving campaign.

Jane Bennett's son Scott was 22 when he was killed in the early hours on Sunday 05 December 2010 when he was a passenger in a car driven by a 23-year-old drunk driver.

Jane has spoken candidly about the devastating impact Scott's death has had on her life and is joining forces with West Midlands Police to try to prevent other parents from suffering the anguish she has endured.

The campaign runs from Saturday the 01 December 2012 to Tuesday 01 January 2013.

Chief Inspector Greg Jennings gives an overview of this year’s campaign here.

As part of our promise to give an insight into police work the first drink drive operation of the season will be live streamed from this page at 6pm on Saturday 01 December. Visit www.youtube.com/westmidlandspolice to watch the broadcast live.
