Today we will be following the work done in the West Midlands Police forensic labs.

Forensics officersThe specialist labs, situated in the heart of Birmingham, are staffed by highly trained members of policing staff with backgrounds in all manner of scientific fields.

As well as fascinating forensic facts, police will be uploading photographs of specialist scientific lab technoilogy, including laser light equipment, microscopes and a ‘superglue’ cabinet used to develop fingerprints on plastic, giving the public a unique insight into the techniques used to identify and catch criminals.

And the day of tweets will also delve into the world of DNA, fingerprint and footwear analysis, with officers hoping to share the process from the original collection of evidence through to the identification of suspected offenders.
