Chris Price

Chris Price took up the role as Chief Information Officer with the West Midlands Police in early 2011. Prior to this he was Head of ICT and acting CIO at the Highways Agency. Chris also has over 20 years private sector experience, including senior leadership roles in ICT & Information Management with the likes of Siemens Energy Services and TNT UK Ltd, as well as CIO with Keane Ltd.

Chris leads the Information Services (IS) department, responsible for the delivery of all Information Management (IM) and Information & Communication Technology (ICT) services to the Force. Amongst others, this covers the ICT Service Desk; provision of the numerous applications and systems in use within the force, including PND & PNC (Police National Database/ Police National Computer); through our use of graphical information services (GIS); even including our Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) services.

Chris has a well-earned reputation in leadership - particularly in driving strategic change and bringing ICT and the business closer together. He is an acknowledged leader and Information Professional well versed in using all aspects of ICT to enable business change, as well as driving efficiencies while improving service for the business; its customers; and its stakeholders.

Chris is a strong advocate of collaboration and knowledge - and service - sharing across the Public Sector. In addition to representing the Department for Transport on the Government IT Profession Board, he is currently National Competency Lead for the Design & Development strand of the Profession, as well as an active participant in the cross-Government Enterprise Architecture Service Delivery Domain. Chris has also advising on good practice and proposed changes to the Cabinet Office/OGC model contract exemplar. 

Chris’s work has been publicly recognized. His various accolades include: winner of the Computing awards for excellence "Outsource Project of the Year" (2008); and finalist in the Computing/BCS individual excellence "CIO of the Year" (2010), "ICT Leader of the Year" (2009), as well as "Service Manager of the Year" (2008).

Chris lives in Solihull. He is married with two sons. Outside of work he enjoys travelling and sport of all kinds, and is a trust member of Merthyr Town FC, his home-town football team. In addition to being qualified in ITIL and a Prince practitioner, Chris has an MBA from Aston University and an honours degree from the University of Glamorgan. He frequently speaks at both public and private events, and is passionate about business-enablement and efficient delivery through ICT.
