Garry Forsyth joined Northamptonshire Police as a police constable in 1994 and rose to the rank of chief inspector. In 2005, he joined Leicestershire Constabulary, where he was promoted to chief superintendent and was subsequently seconded to the Metropolitan police service in June 2010, where he has worked with the assistant commissioner for territorial policing.
He joined West Midlands Police on 10 January 2011, with responsibility for Operations and Community Justice.
He said: “West Midlands Police has a well deserved national reputation and it is a real privilege for me to be appointed to serve here. We face some very challenging times ahead, but I look forward to working closely with the many talented and committed officers and staff, as well as the excellent partnerships and the public to meet these challenges head on, ensuring we continue to serve our communities and protect them from harm.”
Mr Forsyth lives with his partner and has three children. In his spare time he enjoys playing golf, reading, travelling and cooking.
