New Chief Constable Dave Thompson is set to reveal plans over the coming weeks to build a “strong” force for the West Midlands.
The former Deputy Chief Constable became the force's Chief Constable on Saturday 9 January and took to the streets visiting Coventry's city centre to hear the views of the local people.

Officers from the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit have today (Tuesday 12 January) arrested two people in Walsall on suspicion of Syria related terrorism offences.
The two men, aged 25 and 32 were detained at their home address in the Walsall area under Sec 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000, on suspicion of the preparation, commission or instigation of terrorist related offences.

Police in Birmingham are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was stabbed in Sutton Park last week.
The 17-year-old was with two of his friends when they were approached by a group of Asian men at the town gate entrance of Sutton Park at around 5.15pm, Friday 8 January.

An out-patient who raped a Birmingham City Hospital member of staff has been jailed for 12 years.
Liam McCarthy (pictured), from West Bromwich, pleaded guilty to the assault that took place on 7 October. The 25-year-old had been waiting in the reception area when he followed a member of staff - who had just arrived for her shift - to a staff toilet and subjected her to a terryfying ordeal.

Latest figures from UK national counter terrorism policing show that women and girls are continuing to travel to Syria. The UK police service, including officers in the West Midlands, are today (Tuesday 12th January) launching a new film urging mothers to prevent further tragedies.
The short video focuses on three Syrian refugee mothers speaking directly to mothers in the UK about the realities of life in Syria and asking why any woman would want to take their family to live in a war zone. It is complemented by open letters that the women have written urging mothers in this country to take steps to prevent their daughters travelling to Syria.

A teenager is appearing at court this morning after a handgun and ammunition along with class A drugs were found in a Birmingham home.
A warrant was executed by officers from the Birmingham West and Central local policing unit at the property in Newtown just after 9am yesterday morning (Monday 10 January) where the stash was found.
The 17-year-old boy was arrested and later charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition and possession of class A drugs with intent to supply. He will appear before Birmingham magistrates this morning.
